Where is Salobrena?

salobrena castle

Salobrena is located on the coast of the province of Granada between Malaga and Almeria. The picturesque sea side village of Salobrena is famous for its Moorish castle that sits atop a rocky out crop that is surrounded by white washed houses and sugar cane plantations leading up to the edge of the Mediterranean. Salobrena is justifiably known as the gem of the Costa Tropical of Granada.

Although Salobrena is located only 1 hour east of Malaga and the Costa del Sol, it has managed to escape the over development and mass tourism that has affected the towns of Marbella, Fuengirola, Mijas, Torremolinos and Nerja. Salobrena is still very quaint and Spanish and offers better value for money and more opportunity for capital appreciation. The 10% or so of Northern Europeans that own villas in and around Salobrena enjoy the year round warm, sunny weather, the relaxing & healthy pace of life and amazing views to the sea, the castle of Salobrena and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
